I made a big, for me, move this past weekend. After more than 25 years on the platform I dumped Quicken (specifically Quicken Classic).
Today I moved us to Quicken Simplifi as, after trying just about all the alternatives, it seems like it will work best for us.
The thing is, the only thing I really need in such an app anymore is the ability to make sure I move money to the accounts that need it. Quicken Classic did this well but failed, at least lately, at my secondary goal of getting a real picture of where we’re at.
Ever since renaming the product to “Classic” basic functionality, such as importing our retirement account data, had all but completely stopped working. After trying Simplifi for a few days it doesn’t seem like it has that problem and that alone is enough reason for me to give it a shot.
So, I guess it was a successful weekend for me tech wise as we once again have a solution that seems like it will work. I’ll take that win.
